Shows and bookings:

Fourteen years ago we selected a group of twelve talented local performers to form our ‘Fold Theatre’ group. Following ‘Covid’, Fold Theatre evolved into a much smaller group which we called ‘Folk From the Fold’. We also decided to carry a lot less equipment to minimise our set up time! Members of our loyal cast continue to perform with us and we have recently decided to revert back to our old name ...”Fold Theatre.”
We write and produce our own shows which we perform at Festivals, Village Halls, Folk Clubs and Churches. We have raised a significant amount of money for our various charities.
We currently have two shows available.
Firstly …………….
Fold Theatre present “Mucky Boots, Maps and Midges”- the story of our ‘right to roam’ and the joys, or otherwise, of walking in our beautiful countryside.
This smaller ensemble of the much-loved Fold Theatre, features Eileen and Eric Payne, Julia Davies, Jim Preston and Barry Walmsley.
Together they have created a musical tour of our wonderful Countryside. There is history, humour and, beautifully interwoven songs and music which enhance the narrative.
An uplifting and heartwarming performance ……you will definitely want to dust of those hiking boots after you have seen this! – A highlight not to be missed!
And Secondly………
A beautiful, uplifting story called, ‘The Man who planted trees’.
The Man Who Planted Trees.

The wonderful poignant story of Elzeard Bouffier was written by Jean Giono about an imaginary, but, wholly believable shepherd. The story compares the tree planter, the ‘earth husband’ to the makers of war. At the same time it shows us all that is best in man’s relationship with nature and his fellow man.
We have taken this uplifting story, and added some beautiful songs and harmony singing – audiences have been spell bound! Comments included -“That was so uplifting”, “What a fantastic story”, “Everyone should see this, it’s inspirational!” The show lasts for 35 minutes and can be combined with Mucky Boots, Maps and Midges, or a set of songs and tunes, to make a complete evening.

For organisations looking to book an event, we can provide you with one or both of the above shows. Alternatively we can bring you a more general, lively evening of folk songs and music. We are keen to support Charities so, if you are fundraising, please get in touch.
